Nearly one in four college students who drink alcohol heavily on a regular basis quit doing so before they graduate. This is the finding of research conducted by Dr. Kenneth Steinman of Ohio State University's School of Public Health, who surveyed 778 undergraduates at the university. The study is published in the Journal of American College Health.
Research by others has long documented the fact that the vast majority of college students who drink alcohol heavily dramatically decrease their consumption quickly following graduation.
