A federal appeals court has blocked Utah from enforcing its law that prohibits wine and spirits advertising but that permits beer advertising.

Plaintiffs argued that it makes no sense to allow beer advertising while prohibiting wine and spirits ads. The court agreed that alcohol is alcohol and that distinguishing between different types of alcohol beverage is "irrational."
